For defining shared strategies, standards, (ethical) principles and missions to collaboratively solve common societal challenges, creating and fostering a connected, active and dynamic community that involves the majority of stakeholders is crucial. Below is a list of the most important associations and networks for AI and BD in Europe.
BDVA Big Data Value Association
The Big Data Value Association – BDVA, (from 2021, DAIRO - Data, AI and Robotics aisbl), is an industry-driven international not–for-profit organisation with more than 230 members all over Europe and a well-balanced composition of large, small, and medium-sized industries as well as research and user organizations.
BDVA/DAIRO focuses on enabling the digital transformation of the economy and society through Data and Artificial Intelligence by advancing in areas such as big data and AI technologies and services, data platforms and data spaces, Industrial AI, data-driven value creation, standardisation, and skills.
The Knowledge Centre Data & Society
The Knowledge Centre Data & Society (Kenniscentrum Data & Maatschappij) focuses on the interplay between data, artificial intelligence and society. The Centre enables socially responsible, ethical and legally appropriate implementations of AI in Flanders.
The Centre aims to enable Flemish companies, policymakers, regulators and citizens to achieve the greatest social and/or economic benefits of AI. For this it will bring together diverse stakeholder representative organisations and facilitate the creation of tools, advice and recommendations.
International Data Spaces Association
The International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) is a coalition of more than 130 member companies that share a vision of a world where all companies self-determine usage rules and realize the full value of their data in secure, trusted, equal partnerships; and they are making that vision a reality.
Their goal is nothing less than a global standard for international data spaces (IDS) and interfaces, as well as fostering the related technologies and business models that will drive the data economy of the future across industries.
AuroraAI
The objective of the AuroraAI programme is to offer citizens personalised services at the right time in different life situations and events. This will reduce the need to dash from one window to the next to access services and also promote cost-effectiveness, especially in the provision of public services.
Sitra - Health Data 2030
Sitra is an accountable and independent future-oriented fund that is influential nationally and internationally and acts as a think tank, promoter of experiments and operating models and a catalyst for co-operation. In being accountable to Parliament, our future-oriented work is funded with returns on investments based on endowment capital received originally at the behest of Parliament.
Sitra - Fair Data Economy
The goal of the fair data economy led by Sitra is a human-driven European data market where personal data flows more freely and where data is available to operators of all sizes, with data shared fairly between different-sized companies and bodies in the public sector. New business models and new, innovative digital services benefit society as a whole.
MyData Global
MyData Global is an award-winning international nonprofit. The purpose of MyData Global is to empower individuals by improving their right to self-determination regarding their personal data. It is based on the MyData Declaration.
MyData Global has over 100 organisation members and close to 400 individual members from over 40 countries, on six continents.
